Electoral College: A body of people representing the states (not the people) of the US, who formally cast votes for the election of the president and vice president.
On Tuesday, November 8, 2016 Americans will be casting their vote for president believing that it actually elects the president.
Few will know and understand where any candidate stands on the issues facing our nation or even the issues facing their state or local governments.
Traditionally, the vote for president takes precedence over local elections and incumbents win most of the seats up for election. This is important because, “Each House Member, for instance, receives nearly a million dollars per year to pay for franked (free) mail, staff salaries, and office and travel expenses. . . In the House of Representatives, for instance, the average job tenure is ten years. However, the principal leaders (the committee chairmen, speaker, majority leader, and whip) have served an average of twenty-seven years — which means that the average member of this group has been in the House since the Johnson Administration. . . For every congressional election in the last twenty years, incumbents running for reelection in the House of Representatives have been returned to office at rates averaging higher than 90 percent.” (Heritage.org)
These are the “corpoliticos” that make the real decisions in our nation and these are the individuals who reduce our children’s education to a factory outlet operation, giving over to the “hedgehogs” our children’s future and our nation’s success.
American’s are content with voting for the lesser of two evils when it comes to the presidency and that reality is no more apparent than in this year’s election.
Instead of “opting out” of testing, we should be “opting out” of voting for a necessary evil by writing in our own names for every position up for election, to show our government that we, the people, of the United States are the government and we, the people, will no longer stand for corporate “hedgehogs” running our lives and destroying our children.
We cannot change the system until we remove those who lead it.
