Pride Not Prejudice

The original pledge of allegiance to America read, “We give our heads and hearts to God and our country; one country, one language, one flag! and was created by Colonel George Balch, a veteran of the Civil War in 1887. “Balch was a proponent of teaching children, especially those of immigrants, loyalty to the United States.” (Wikipedia)

In the 1930’s the act of saying the pledge of allegiance to America was no longer mandatory in public schools.

America, being a mosaic of humanity, is not common and can claim no common culture.

However, loyalty to God and country, with one language spoken, made America common while respecting the rights of every culture in America. It taught children to have pride in themselves and to respect others who were different but equally Americans.

We removed the belief in loyalty to God and country when we removed the responsibility of government from the people and placed it in the hands of the “hedgehogs” who now control our country through prejudice and hate.

Our Constitution warned against a government that ruled by tyranny and oppression and in the past Americans heeded that warning by being actively involved in their government, knowing the issues and the candidates views on the issues.

Too many Americans are no longer responsible citizens who take an active role in their government, locally or nationally, but are content to have “hedgehogs” control the government and ultimately them.

We no longer give our hearts and heads to God and country, we simply give our money to survive in a godless, disconnected country that mis-educates its children, disparages its poor, and reduces its entire population to data bits and dollar signs.

America has no common language making communication difficult and confusing between the various cultures owing to the confusion that maintains our prejudice.

Americans must take back their country from the “hedgehogs”.

We must teach our children to believe in themselves, to take pride in their country and become the government “of the people by the people for the people”, and live the American way.
