It Is Not Who But What

Diane Ravitch writes in her post, California: Meet the Billionaires Who Are Financing the Spread of School Privatization, “The California Teachers Association created a useful graphic of the billionaires who are supporting charter schools and privatization of public schools . . .”

There is nothing new about the fact that America’s current system of government and therefore education is controlled by the wealthy.

For years now the “99%” have been rallying against the influence of billionaires in government and now in education.

It is because the 99% are very good at identifying and rallying against the 1% but do very little to change the system of government that empowers the 1% to maintain control over the system of education that keeps the populous ignorant and unable to control and govern themselves.

Who these individuals are is irrelevant. The fact that the American public knows and understands “hedgehogs” control our current system of education by purchasing legislative support for their common core agenda and yet refuses to stand against them in support of the excellent education of all of America’s children is testament to the fact that we, the people of the United States, are not united and have no interest in governing ourselves.

We are not on this Earth to make a profit but to profit from the relationships we form with one another.

In the past lasting relationships were formed in school between the teacher and students and between the students as well because they all matured together, in one room, in one neighborhood school. Our current system of education discourages and desensitizes our children from forming any type of lasting relationships with adults or peers.

We know that we have the means and the money to provide every child in America with a free and public education that is developmentally appropriate, Arts based, experiential and concentrated on discovering, developing, and directing their individual gifts and talents towards becoming responsible, respectful, actively engaged citizens who can intelligently decide the future direction of this country towards a more positive, people oriented perspective that respects humanity over capitalism, people over profits.
