Type Of School – System Of Education

System:
A set of connected things or parts forming a complex whole, in particular.
A set of things working together as parts of a mechanism or an interconnecting network.
A set of principles or procedures according to which something is done; an organized scheme or method.

“There is no single right system of providing K-12 education, whether it be traditional public schools, charter schools, or private or parochial schools,” said Seligman. “We need to find a means to develop a Rochester approach to build a hybrid system that will incorporate the best of all our existing types into a coherent system.”

“The result is that Rochester students are trapped in a system that does not prepare them for college or a job and robs them of the future they deserve,” he said.

Seligman said that the “hybrid system” he is urging would “incorporate the best” from all the existing types of schools, but that “does not mean an attack on teachers or unions.” Joel Seligman as reported by the D&C.

Mr. Seligman is incorrect. There is a “right system” for providing children with an excellent education. The right system is the Montessori system of education where the child is valued for their gifts and talents and provided a developmentally appropriate, Arts based, and experiential learning environment that encompasses and incorporates the world community by celebrating the diversity of culture and lifestyle.

A school is a place where we teach individuals to be aware, knowledgeable and respectful of themselves, their environment and the others with whom they must live.

It is not the intent of education to prepare children for college or a job, but to prepare them to live a successful life, happy and free from the stress that the hate and discontent of classism causes.

The type of school is not the issue in the mis-education of our children. It is the standardization, segregation, discrimination, and dehumanization within our actual “system” of education that must be eradicated from every traditional public school, charter school, and private or parochial school in America today.
