David Can Beat Goliath

It is difficult for people to leave their comfort zone and engage in what they know is right but takes a concerted effort to change.

We know that our current system of education is detrimental to all of America’s children, causing them to be robotic followers in a system that regards them as nothing more than worker bees where “middle class” drones keep the dangers of poverty from reaching the leaders.

Each day blog after blog is written about the problems that exist within education yet few have shown the courage to move beyond their comfort zone and attack the giants head on.

We huddle around issues of testing and evaluations when we know the entire system is corrupt.

We know the current system of education in America is standardizing, segregationist, discriminatory, and dehumanizing yet we resist making the changes most all would agree should occur.

We constantly look to the our elected leaders to solve the problems the people are supposed to be able to address and solve together, as a concerned and actively engaged nation.

Change will not happen if David simply accepts the situation and decides that it is too big to tackle, alone or in a group.

Fortunately, history has taught us that the greatest changes to our world have been made one person at a time.

One person, believing in themselves, knowing that God will help them overcome whatever obstacle is before them.

This is the danger the “hedgehogs” work diligently to avoid.

They do not want to risk the hold ignorance places over the populace. They want our children to believe in ghosts, and vampires, werewolves and sadomasochism. The want our children to believe in anything but the God that strengthens them and the power that comes from loving themselves and their neighbor.

When we provide every child in America with a developmentally appropriate, Arts based, experiential education that concentrates on discovering, developing and directing their gifts and talents towards becoming actively engaged citizens, every child will have the potential to be the David that bests Goliath.
