On December 3, 2014, the Department published a notice of proposed rulemaking (NPRM) to implement requirements for the teacher preparation program accountability system under title II of the Higher Education Act of 1965, as amended (HEA), and also to amend the regulations governing the Teacher Education Assistance for College and Higher Education (TEACH) Grant Program under title IV of the HEA. The comment period closed on February 2, 2015.

The Department received over 4,800 comments in response to the NPRM.

This is what will make America great, the voice of the people.

It is no longer enough to sit in small groups and ruminate over the problems in education. It is time to raise our voice and change our current system of education so that it actually educates our children.

It is also important that we do not allow our current government to interfere with the education future teachers will receive.

Should the “hedgehogs” move forward with their plan to force teacher colleges to prepare their teachers to promote the common core agenda, our nation will truly be at risk.

Now is the time for all good teacher colleges, professors, students, parents, and every interested stakeholder in education to let our current government know that they have no business in the area of what teachers should learn to teach children.

Dedicated educators know every child is gifted and talented which is why we must, as a society, remove the confines of standardization and begin to recognize and show respect for the individual differences that make us all human.

Teachers must recognize and respect their gifts and talents in order to recognize and respect the gifts and talents of their students.

When we provide every child in America with a developmentally appropriate, Arts based, experiential education that concentrates on discovering, developing, and directing those gifts and talents in a positive direction, the taxes our government collects will actually be spent effectively and efficiently.
