Demolition And Dehumanization

Recent news concerning the leadership of a newly sanctioned charter school and the lack of due process in vetting his resume has Diane Ravitch asking, “Who runs the SED? Dr. Tisch selected the State Education Commissioner, Dr. John King, her classmate at Teachers College. Maybe he is responsible? But who is accountable? Anyone?”

Ms. Ravitch ends her blog post by saying, “No problem. The demolition of public education continues.”

While the demolition of public education continues, the mis-education of our children has been lost to the distractions of politics and money.

It is well known that education is the solution to ending the social ills that are being held responsible for the mis-education of our children.

Poverty will not exist once every child in America is afforded an excellent education that concentrates on discovering, developing, and directing their gifts and talents.

School safety and bullying will not be an issue in a system of education that respects everyone in the school community for the gifts and talents they have to offer.

Teacher effectiveness will increase once teachers are allowed to bring the passion of their gifts and talents into the classroom to engage and inspire their students.

Once students are provided with an excellent, experiential education that teaches them the the artistic expressions of their own and others cultures and the truth of history, standardized test scores will increase.

The “hedgehogs” are not attacking public education, they are buying it and then selling our children into the slavery of debt owed to those who protect and perpetuate their profits by keeping the American public ignorant, mesmerized by propaganda and distracted by non-issues. Their agenda is motivated by the data they collect from the standardization of the children they enslave.

We must end the current system of education by Constitutionally guaranteeing every child in America a free and public education that concentrates on discovering, developing, and directing their gifts and talents.

Each state must be held accountable for making sure their LEA’s provide their districts with the resources necessary to meet our Constitutional obligations.

Baby Goats And Guinea Pigs

The Democrat & Chronicle recently reported, “The 22-year-old founder of a recently approved charter high school resigned Tuesday after apparent misrepresentations about his educational and professional background came to light.”

The article continues with, “Andrew Brown, a member of the Board of Regents, said in an email that the board and the State Education Department “undertake a very rigorous process” before granting a charter.

“That was done in this case,” Brown said. “We rely on a considerable amount of data and information provided by applicants, along with conducting many in-person interviews before reaching a decision.

“If it were to turn out that we were deliberately provided misleading information by an applicant, that would of course call for further review of the issuance of the charter.”

It is because individuals deliberately provide misleading information that background checks are necessary.

The New York State Board of Regents didn’t feel it was necessary to scrutinize the educational background of an individual that was applying for leadership of a school?

Was there a criminal history background check?

Was there a mental history background check?

The Board of Regents is also responsible for issuing certifications to School District Superintendents with the same responsibility and accountability for making sure that the individuals we put before our children are models of knowledge, respect, and integrity.

How many of our educational leaders, in public and charter schools, receiving $100,000-$300,000 a year in salaries paid with educational dollars, are unqualified to carry out the responsibilities of their position?

Testing, data mining, charter schools, all using “kids” as guinea pigs to determine how best to insure the profits of the “hedgehogs”.

The Constitution of the United States must guarantee every child in America the right to an excellent, free, and public education that is child centered, developmentally appropriate and concentrates on discovering, developing, and directing the gifts and talents of every child.

Each State must insure its citizens that the educational leaders they certify and approve have the knowledge, understanding, and background that will support and sustain the educational excellence of all of America’s children.

Sir Ken Robinson Speaks

Enthrall: To hold in or reduce to slavery.
Disenthrall: To free from bondage.

Sir Ken Robinson is an English author, speaker and international advisor on education in the arts to government, non-profits, education and arts bodies. He was Director of the Arts in Schools Project (1985–89), Professor of Arts Education at the University of Warwick (1989–2001), and was knighted in 2003 for services to art. Wikipedia

In this video he refers to the excerpt below from Lincoln’s message to Congress.

An excerpt from President Abraham Lincoln’s Annual Message to Congress:

“The dogmas of the quiet past, are inadequate to the stormy present. The occasion is piled high with difficulty, and we must rise — with the occasion. As our case is new, so we must think anew, and act anew. We must disenthrall ourselves, and then we shall save our country.”

The dogmas of the quiet past have the elite controlling our political and education systems which are inadequate to the stormy present. America guarantees freedom and justice for all and as Americans, and we must rise with the occasion to disenthrall ourselves from the corporate slavery that politically maintains a class system in America and standardizes and dehumanizes our children.

We must think and act anew, concentrating on discovering, developing, and directing the gifts and talents of all of our children so that they will become knowledgeable, respectful leaders with integrity, who will speak with the voice of the people and not be purchased with the profits of the elite.

We must grow leaders who will recognize that our children’s gifts and talents are more valuable than the profits derived from hedge fund speculation.

When we save our children we will save our country!

Mutual Feelings

In the Moyers & Company article, Why the First Issue Is Money in Politics, Constitutional scholar and activist Lawrence Lessig, states, “. . . We will see no progress until the wealthy entities that benefit can no longer buy up politicians to prevent the status quo from changing.”

Until the wealthy entities that benefit from the mis-education of America’s children can no longer buy up politicians to prevent the status quo from changing, our children will not be recognized for the gifted and talented human beings they were created to be.

There has been a great deal of attention being given “humane” education. The very concept of education is humane when it is concentrated on the child. To fight to end the policies and procedures of a system designed to dehumanize our children will not change the system but merely prolong it.

Changing the language of the Federal, State, and Local departments of education so that it focuses on discovering, developing, and directing the gifts and talents of all children in America is the only way to effectively and efficiently bring about educational success.

When the Federal government Constitutionally guarantees the right of every child in America to receive an excellent education, it can then insure that every State fulfills its obligation to provide every child in America with that excellent education according to the educational needs of the Local Education Agencies in their charge.

Towards that goal, every Local Education Agency should receive, from their State, the resources necessary to provide every child in the LEA with an excellent education according to their individual gifts and talents.

Every child in America deserves a curriculum that is child centered, developmentally appropriate, founded in the Arts, and experiential.

Every child should have the privilege of being educated in their neighborhood school by dedicated, passionate teachers, in safe school communities that promote pride and respect for self and others.

Every child in America should receive the education every wealthy child in America receives.

Provide all children with an excellent education and America’s future leaders will govern with integrity.

Humanitarianism Or Capitalism

Human: Of, relating to, or affecting people.

Humanity: The quality or state of being human; the quality or state of being kind to other people or to animals; all people.

Humanitarianism: A person who works to make other people’s lives better.

Capitalist: A (human) who has a lot of money, property, etc., and who uses those things to produce more money; a (human) who believes that capitalism is the best kind of economic system

Capitalism: A way of organizing an economy so that the things that are used to make and transport products (such as land, oil, factories, ships, etc.) are owned by individual people and companies rather than by the government.

There is a difference in the ideals of a humanitarian and a capitalist. Their life’s objectives do not follow the same path nor do they have the same goals.

Currently, capitalists are organizing the policies and procedures of our Federal, State, and Local systems of education so that things they are using to produce more money are our children.

Last night the Rochester Teacher’s Association welcomed Institute for Humane Education President Zoe Weil, to speak to its educators about the goal of education. On Saturday, November 22, 2014, from 8:30 a.m. until 5 p.m. Ms. Weil will be conducting a professional development workshop where ducators will learn how to bring global ethical issues into the classroom through innovative activities and approaches that enable their students to become conscientious change-makers and effective problem solvers for a more humane, peaceable, and healthy world.”

Currently, higher education institutes are being forced to train teachers to teach to and administer the standardized tests that students, parents, and students are protesting.

Our children are human beings and their quality, their very state of being human is being controlled by capitalists whose only purpose is to make money.

We must change the language of education so that it concentrates on discovering, developing, and directing the gifts and talents of all of America’s children.

Our children deserve to be human, educated by humanitarians, with the intent of increasing the humanity in everyone.

Proposed Priorities, Requirements, Definitions, and Selection Criteria-Charter Schools Program Grants to State Educational Agencies

“The Assistant Deputy Secretary proposes this regulatory action to achieve three main goals. . .

The first goal of greater accountability by supporting the growth of high-quality charter school sectors in States that have not received CSP funding in the past, thereby creating new systems of supports and increasing the funding available for high-quality charter schools in new regions. . .

The second goal of this proposed regulatory action is to strengthen public accountability and oversight for authorized public chartering agencies. . .

The third goal of this proposed regulatory action is to encourage a stronger focus on supporting and improving academic outcomes for educationally disadvantaged students. . .”

It is clear, given their own list of goals, that the United States Department of Education’s priorities are not focused on our children since they are third to the development of more charter schools and charter school accountability.

Our children must come first!

Strengthening Charter School accountability must begin with the charter schools in existence before spending education dollars on creating more failing institutions that feed the corporate “hedgehogs”.

The proposal’s “Cost and Benefit” section begins with: “The Department believes that the benefits of this regulatory action outweigh any associated costs, which we believe would be minimal.”

The benefits of the regulatory action is the creation of more corporate profits which will cost our children, exiled in public schools that are designed to fail, an excellent education.

All of America’s children deserve an excellent, child centered, developmentally appropriate, education that is founded in the Arts and experiential, delivered by dedicated, passionate, knowledgeable educators in neighborhood schools with low student:teacher ratios in classes that promote interpersonal relationships between and among all members of the school community so that everyone is appreciated for the gifts and talents they have to offer.

When we change the language of education, we will change the direction of education. When we change the direction of education we will change the direction of America from capitalism to humanitarianism.

Our children deserve to live in peace.

Peace Not Profits

Yesterday, at Enrico Ferme School #17, Teen Empowerment, Alliance for a Quality Education and Metro Justice held a press conference in conjunction with the Rochester City School District informing the public of the numbers of impoverished, inner city students that become part of the prison system because of the disciplinary measures contained within the Code of Conduct of the district. The school to prison pipeline is indicative of the system of education in poor urban cities across the country. This is how the “hedgehogs” profit from the mis-education of the poor.

This problem does not exist in the suburbs because suburban parents have control over their school boards and they vote for the political leaders that create educational policy.

Suburban students have their own problems with the current system of education that uses them in a different way.

Currently, $2 billion dollars will be spent equipping classrooms with computers that will track the spending habits of our more affluent students. Standardized tests will place them on the College and Career track from which they can maintain and even grow the “middle class” in order to keep the economy strong and America competitive in the global “market”.

The New York State Board of Regents is considering enacting legislation that will force school districts to spend money on field tests that help Pearson create the standardized test that parents, students, and educators are fighting to end.

We must recognize that our current system of education is designed by the “hedgehogs” to produce profits from failure and success.

When we change education so that it concentrates on discovering, developing, and directing the gifts and talents of all children we will change the intent of education from ensuring corporate profits to creating a strong, independent, involved American citizen who understands that political leadership means leading the country towards success for all of its citizens.

When we change the direction of education in America we will change the direction of America from becoming an economic leader to becoming the Nation that leads the global community towards peace.
