Economists say that if you want to know the priorities of any business, look at their budget.
The United States is supposed to be a democratic safe haven for those who want to escape oppression. In our harbor is a statue that welcomes immigrants to our shores. The United States is a symbol of hope and equality through opportunity for everyone.
In looking at the budget of the United States Government, the Department of Defense has the largest portion of the budget, employing more than three million individuals.
It is difficult to argue that America is not a war invested country, especially since hedge fund investors make money on both ends and sides of every war in which we are involved. “Hedge funders” have no problem taking tax dollars to use against tax paying Americans to profit from the economic circumstances they control.
Conversely, the United States Department of Education is considered a mid-size department, employing about four thousand people.
This department is also managed by hedge fund investors who make money on both ends, early childhood education and prison, and on both sides, Democrat and Republican.
The majority of the RCSD budget is spent on salary compensations which pays its administrators an average salary of $102,531. Teachers receive, on average, $61,925, Civil Service employees, $42,720, Teaching Assistants, $26,388, and Paraprofessionals receive $21,797 on average.
Given the fact that the RCSD remains the lowest achieving district in the Big Five, as those individuals who work the closest with our children receive the least amount of compensation, it is clear that the priority of this district is not student success but administrative control, especially since, according to Superintendent Vargas, ASAR is standing in the way of district success.
When we allow our governments to use our tax dollars to support war, banks, private corporation profits, and greed, we are allowing the destruction of the American dream of freedom, justice and equality for all.
Following the money shows clearly that we must change the focus of our nation and begin to provide our children with an excellent education.
