They Are All Our Children

As poor Black children are killing each other one at a time, affluent White children are walking into schools and committing multiple murders.

When it comes to the choice between life and death, too many of our children are choosing death as an option to living life feeling worthless.

It seems people think White children aren’t suffering nearly as much as Black children and poor children suffer more than rich children.

As reported by Conservative USA, “The New Freedom Initiative is a plan to screen the entire U.S. population for mental illness and to provide a cradle-to-grave continuum of services for those identified as either mentally ill or at risk of becoming so. Under the plan, schools would become hubs of the screening process – not only for children but for their parents and teachers. There are even components aimed at senior citizens, pregnant women, and new mothers.”

This “nationwide initiative has been quietly in the making since 2002. Conceived in Texas . . . there are now some 27 sites around the country piloting various parts of it. . . The House Appropriations Committee approved $20 million in new federal monies to begin nationwide implementation.”

This plan mentions nothing about race, color, or economic status however, the effect of this “screening” will damage ALL children tested.

Our government leaders believe that our current system of education has created a systemic mental illness that has negatively affected every American citizen, at every age.

A child centered, Arts based, experiential, disciplined education that focuses on discovering, developing, and directing the gifts and talents of all children is the only way to reverse the negative effects of mis-education while strengthening the mind, body, and spirit of all of our children.

Creating a world where everyone understands and respects the fact that we each posses the intelligence, creativity, and passion necessary to live together peacefully means allowing teachers to engage their passions in order to engage the passions within their students, making everyone feel proud and worthwhile and loved, adults and children.

When every child is our child, every child will deserve our best.
