Peace to all. On vacation in California, after landing and boarding a shuttle to our destination, it happened that we shared the shuttle with two other people. In conversation we learned that our fellow travelers were from Philadelphia and worked for the Center for Hunger-free communities of rex University School of Public Health.
Angela Sutton and Angelo Melendez were in California to attend a conference on poverty, Angela was presenting. After asking Angela and Angelo their views on poverty, it quickly became clear that the problems we are facing in Rochester mirror the problems they are facing in Philadelphia. Angelo explained that after a drastic 629 million budget reduction, Philly lost more than a thousand teachers. Angela agrees that education is the key to ending issues such as poverty and has come to California to say just that at the conference.
We tend to think that the problems we face are unique to us however, children all over the country are dying educationally and our leaders answer to this problem is to increase it by cutting education services. It is evident that the plan of “BB” (big business) is to eliminate the opportunity for anyone that is not of their “social sphere” to become successful in America.
It has been reported that the middle class in America is dwindling. There isn’t supposed to be a class system in America. In America, all men are created equal. In America, everyone is endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.
It is time this nation declares its independence from “BB” and begin to fight for the rights of our children to be excellently educated so that they can enjoy the freedom for which America.
It is time Americans join together, becoming one nation, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.
It is time we begin to believe our pledge of allegiance and say it with pride.
As Americans, it is up to us, the people, to make this country what it should be.
