Ignorance Is Bliss

The actual quote from the poem by Thomas Gray is, “where ignorance is bliss, ’tis folly to be wise.

Someone said, the problem is they’re (societal leaders) keeping the answers to themselves. They know the answer and they’re teaching their children the answers but they’re not sharing the answers with everyone.

But the answers are being shared and the truth is out there. There is no way one can concern themselves with every topic of contention in our world today but you can listen to and read those who do.

If you are interested in the STEM of Agriculture you can listen to the Dr. Bob King show on the radio. Everything the U.S. sanctions in the area of agriculture is explained on that show. There are those who would listen and still not understand what agriculture watchdogs are telling the citizens of the U.S. about the food they eat.

If you say, “Yes but its not good enough, I don‘t understand a word he‘s saying.” the response should be, “Well then, you have two choices, increase the level of education so that the average person will understand what is being said, or decrease the mode and method of the transmittal of information so that the “average“ citizen can comprehend.” The decision should be to increase the level of education.

Researchers have found that standardized testing has little merit when it comes to evaluating instructional methods. Unfortunately where ignorance is bliss, those who know and understand the implications of standardized testing are seen as court jesters, providing entertainment for the wealthy who would keep the masses ignorant.

We live in a world where ignorance is so opaque that few can see the wisdom of being knowledgeable enough to hear and see the truth when it is presented to them.

We live in a world where reading The Diary of Anne Frank has been replaced with The Diary of a Wimpy Kid. Our children are being taught to accept ignorance not educated to live wisely.
