Since the videos of each focus group are now available on the district web site, the information shared for the remaining three focus groups will be attributes and first year priorities. The Hispanic Community focus group was in Spanish and therefore cannot be summarized here.

Priorities for the first year:
Work on strengths – turn tone of discouragement around – speak to the potential – partner with pre-service education- partnerships with all stakeholders – special Education needs – multifunctional schools – work to get contracts with higher ed signed – knowing when to act and when to sit back – be visible in the community – be sure you’re making changes that you want to live with – when excellence is found, go out to it don’t take it away from where it is needed – where is the program or initiative that develops good leadership – special education as viewing the strengths of students and putting them in positions where those strengths can develop – how can educational dollars be best utilized – not be tempted to go for the big money that challenges the vision – creating a synergy – needs to be part of building a movement – building relationships with individuals – what supports are the educational communities going to offer – sustained leadership at the school and district level – enhancing the profession of education – create a “think tank” of educational stakeholders
